A New Theory Reveals What Was Itachi’s Mysterious Illness

Hey guys. Itachi’s illness is one of the biggest mysteries of the Naruto series. Many theories have been put forward throughout the years that tackle this specific question. However, we may finally have an answer to this question. Let me warn you that this theory is the result of a lit of hard work so please read it till the end. Itachi Uchiha was suffering from microscopic polyangiitis.

MPA is a rare form of systemic vasculitis. It is an auto-immune disorder, characterized by antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies attacking the small vessels, causing them to bleed as they become damaged and inflamed. It can have far-reaching consequences throughout different organ systems. When it is compared to Itachi’s mysterious sickness, you will find that it is actually quite amazing that how it adds up. The most visible symptom of Itachi’s illness is hemoptysis.

The hemoptysis is, more likely than not, a result of diffuse alveolar hemorrhage. This is a classic symptom of MPA when it presents with pulmonary manifestations. There is also shortness of breath, and coughing. Unlike many other forms of vasculitis, such as wegener granulomatosis for example, the upper respiratory tract is usually spared. All the damage is deeper in the lungs. Itachi’s case is consistent with this. Head back to Itachi’s fight against Sasuke when Itachi was grabbing his shirt and he appeared to be in excruciating pain. In this disease, chest pain and symptoms of cardiac failure are not uncommon. We know that before his death Itachi was nearly blind.

This is related to Itachi over using the Mangekyou Sharingan. The Mangekyou Sharingan puts a lot of stress on the eyes, the nerves and blood vessels that surround it. Needless to say, it’s inflammatory in and of itself. However, it would be unwise to assume that the damage to Itachi’s eyes was only because of Mangekyou Sharingan. Ocular involvement in MPA is uncommon, but can exist – usually in the form of retinal hemorrhage and scleritis. The bloodshot eyes Itachi sports in his final battle with Sasuke show these symptoms clearly.

The MPA accelerated the amount of damage done to Itachi’s eyes. It acted as the catalyst. Those are the only clues to Itachi’s symptoms given outright in canon. But we can extrapolate others from the way he conducts himself. Obito described Itachi’s disease to Sasuke in one panel. He revealed that Itachi took a variety of different medicines to keep himself alive. He could easily be describing the treatment of MPA, which requires a combination of different steroids and immunosuppressive agents. Because treating the disease requires suppressing his immune system, Itachi likely needed other drugs as well, including specific types of antibiotics and vitamins. If you do a bit research of MPA, you will find that the theory is actually very plausible. Thank you for reading it.

Did Shisui Uchiha Betray [SPOILER]?

Hey guys. The Uchiha Clan massacre is one the darkest moments in the history of the Hidden Leaf. The Hidden Leaf was in shock how the Uchiha Clan was almost vanished from existence. It was surprising because the Uchiha Clan is one of the four Noble clans of the Hidden Leaf. The Uchiha Clan have their own unique Kekkei Genkai which makes them very dangerous opponents. Not many people knew about the truth behind the massacre of the Uchiha Clan.

The reality of the massacre was hidden by the elders of the Leaf. Only a handful of people had knowledge about it. Exterminating the clan was the final resort that the Hidden Leaf had to use against the Uchiha. Before the tragedy befell the clan, the Hidden Leaf did try other alternatives. One of the alternatives was to get Shisui use the Kotoamatsukami on Fugaku Uchiha so that he manipulate him into stopping the Coup d’etat.

Before that could happen Shisui was attacked by Danzo and in the process, Shisui lost one of his eyes. Shisui somehow managed to reach Itachi. Before dying, Shisui asked Itachi to protect the clan at any cost. But, is it possible that Shisui could have used his Kotoamatsukami on Itachi so as to ensure that the village didn’t suffer from any problems. It might be the deciding factor in killing of the Uchiha Clan. We know how the Kotoamatsukami works. It allows the user to plant false memories, making the victim believe they are doing things of their own free will.

We know that Shisui loved the village more than his clan, and his final words were about protecting Konoha were against the Uchiha. Even though it is true that Shisui and Itachi were like brothers and trusted each other; this would be Shisui’s final act so why would he not use all his powers to ensure the village was protected? If you think about, it actually makes sense.

This could have also lead to Itachi awakening the Mangekyou Sharingan.
